Join us for the eighth annual Men’s Health Event on September 29, 2018 at Ford Field from 9AM-3PM. This FREE event will provide men a better understanding of how to stay healthy, free health screenings to assess their current health and information about advances in healthcare. By pre-registering you will not have to fill out the paperwork at registration. Same day registrations are welcome! 

The FREE health screenings provided are valued at over $1,800 and include vital measurements, a blood test for prostate-specific antigen (PSA), testosterone, magnesium, uric acid, glucose, cholesterol, HDL, LDL, trigylcerides, liver function, BMI and body fat percentage assessments, mental health screenings, HIV/AIDS testing, skin cancer screenings, EKG testing, hearing, joint & mobility assessments and dental examinations and more! Attendees will receive blood draw results in the mail 7-10 days post event. You do not need to fast for the blood draw.

The event also provides FREE flu shots, FREE haircuts, "Ask a Healthcare Expert", raffle prizes, health and sport displays, fitness activities, guest speakers, an opportunity to kick a field goal at Ford Field and a FREE meal! Men come away from this family-friendly event with a comprehensive health assessment! 

Over 11,500 FREE life-saving screenings were provided to nearly 1300 attendees at our 2017 event! Each year, the Men's Health Event is made possible by all of our sponsors, screening partners and event partners thanks to their generosity supporting the event and the health of men in our community.  


Event Details

  • “Ask a Healthcare Expert” area with varying areas of expertise

  • “Ask a Pharmacist” area available. Be sure to bring along your medication or a list of medications for specific questions

  • Opportunity to kick a field goal on Ford Field

  • Participate in our Orangetheory Fitness Challenge! Complete the on-field challenge and receive OTF swag!

  • Join Spartan Warrior Project and instructor, Chris Martindale, for a beginner-friendly, all-levels yoga class on Ford Field from 8:15AM – 8:45AM. Please bring a yoga mat and arrive 15 minutes prior to class.

  • Live music by The Session Band

  • Take a picture with the Detroit Lions' own Roary from 10AM - 12PM and cheerleaders from 12PM - 2PM

  • Free educational materials, give-aways and demonstrations by non-profit organizations, healthcare organizations and sponsors

  • Food and beverages available for purchase, plus a free meal for each screening attendee

  • On-field activities including Quarterback Challenge, Pass & Kick and The Drive Challenge

  • Join us for a special men's health Slow Roll that will depart from Lot E (behind Gate G parking structure) at 11AM. More details to follow!

  • Bring your kids and spouse to this family-friendly event! 

  • Join us at 12PM for our Half Time Show featuring Weight Watchers and Dr. Mark Moyad! Weight Watchers will highlight the weight loss journey of three men before Dr. Mark Moyad discusses Fad Diets and Dietary Supplements from A to Z: What Works & What is Worthless? You don't want to miss this!

  • For the safety of all guests and vendors, Men’s Health Event will be implementing walkthrough metal detectors at all event entrances to Ford Field.  Guests will be asked to remove, and place in the inspection bin, items such as cell phones, keys, and other large metal objects before passing through the metal detector.   All bags and other handheld items will also be screened before entering Ford Field. 


FAQ's

Is there any cost to attend this event?
This event is free to attend and includes over $1,800 of health screenings for men over 18. Parking is $4. Each attendee receives a free meal. Additional food and drinks are available to purchase. 

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This is a family-friendly event and all ages are welcome! Men who are recieving a screening must be over 18 and should bring a picture ID. 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking available at Gate G - $4.00 per vehicle. The closest Smart Bus Stop: 36th District Court, 421 Madison Avenue, Detroit, MI 482266

If I'm uninsured, where can I learn about resources to get access to health care in my community?
Each attendee will receive at registration a Help with Health Care brochure from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan that lists resources for the uninsured in Michigan, including:

  • County health plans

  • Dental and vision services

  • Free and low-cost clinics

  • Government programs such as Healthy Kids

  • Mental health services

  • Prescription assistance programs


Health Screening Information

Men's Health Event provides FREE health screenings to men over 18. These screenings are provided by a variety of local healthcare providers and are valued at $1,800. Men are not required to have health insurance to participate in any of the health screenings at the event. All results will be provided immediately at the event except for the PSA, glucose, testosterone, cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, uric acid and liver function tests. Since a blood draw is required for these screenings, attendees will receive their results in the mail 7-10 days post event. You do not need to fast for the blood draw.
